Hi Reena,

This article is to explore the concept of lateral thinking, which is often needed to solve some occurring problems. It is more than just a puzzle, as depicted below:

* * *
* * *
* * *

These points must be addressed by four statements. The four statements should encompass all these points. How can we achieve that?

Try these puzzles.

1) Pandora, Harry, Alec, Gemima, and Geoffrey are animals in a zoo. The other day, one of them ate an animal called Tabitha. Who ate her, and what type of animal was it?

2) All except for one of the first four words are repeated in this well-known phrase. What is the phrase?

3) Ricky loses a leg and becomes choosy. Why?

Hi, I don't know the first one; I'm still figuring it out. The second one is "all for one." The third is to erase a stroke from Ricky that will make him picky (choosy). I hope the last two are correct; I'll try the first one though!

Hi Nivedhitha,

Pandora, Harry, Alec, Gemima, and Geoffrey are animals in a zoo. The other day, one of them ate an animal called Tabitha. Who ate her, and what type of animal was it?

Answer 1: Alec ate her (an alligator).

Hey, it is a puzzle. You just need to find the name of the animal. So, if we use the name Alec, it gives us the name of the animal Alec ate, which is an alligator. Therefore, we can simply forget the others and let Alec enjoy his meal.

A murderer is condemned to death. He has to choose between three rooms. The first is full of raging fires, the second is full of assassins with loaded guns, and the third is full of lions that haven't eaten in 3 years. Which room is safest for him?

Will answer on Sunday, keep guessing.

Wow!
Reena, you are a genius. You are right. I hope you post some nice ones too. Let's see you solve this one... others can try too.

This is an unusual paragraph. I'm curious how quickly you can find out what is so unusual about it. It looks so plain you would think nothing was wrong with it. In fact, nothing is wrong with it! It is unusual though. Study it, and think about it, but you still may not find anything odd. But if you work at it a bit, you might find out. Try to do so without any coaching!

And whenever I get time to come online next :)

I hope this will work.

Step by Step:

1. Draw a straight line vertically from the extreme right bottom line dot and extend it a little more than the top line.

2. Bring it diagonally down touching the second dot of the top line and the extreme left dot of the middle line, bringing it further down till the bottom line in a slightly left direction. (Do not try to touch the extreme left dot of the bottom line with the same line.)

3. Continue dragging the same line toward the right direction, touching the first and second dot of the bottom line.

4. Stop that line at the extreme right bottom line dot and then drag the same line in a diagonal position, touching the middle line middle dot and further extending to the extreme left dot of the top line.

Hope it solves.

Dear Afzal,

I tried, but could only answer the second one. The answer is "All for one and one for All." Can you tell me the other two?

Although I know the first one, I'm not really sure. In fact, to be honest, one of my colleagues had answered the first one... Is the answer "Alec"?

Regards,
Shubhda
