Dear All,

I am working in an export house, and as per our social audit, we must have a child labour remediation policy. You are requested to kindly provide me a draft copy of the same. An early response to the same will be highly appreciated.

Thanks & Regards,

You do not require a policy for a mandate provided in law but only maintain records for legal compliance.

Remediation normally refers to the remedy offered. If your organization is engaged in the elimination or eradication of child labor, probably you need such a policy.

Dear All,

I am working in an Export organization, and during my ETI Social audit last week, an issue was raised about a "CHILD REMEDIATION POLICY to be framed," even though we hire adult workers when appointing them. A question was raised by the auditor - Suppose you had appointed a child laborer on fake age declaration and later found out that he is a child laborer.

What will you do in this situation, after knowing he is a CHILD worker?

Please advise on the issue.

Dear Members,

"Child labour remediation policy" refers to the actions the employer proposes to take in case child labor is found in their organization. The SA8000 standard does not require the employer to summarily oust the child laborer. Instead, it expects the employer to, for example, place the child in part-time school. There can be various options depending on the employer's capabilities and resources.
