Dear All,

Nowadays, many of the interview board/panel members are focusing on the strengths and weaknesses of candidates. Is it necessary to focus on them? How can we effectively highlight both strengths and weaknesses and develop strategies to overcome them?

Please share your valuable suggestions.

Dear Katyayani,

It is an important factor for them to know your strengths and weaknesses as they need to offer a position to you. It is really required that you are the right candidate, which means having the right attitude and the right skill set. It is essential for you to highlight your strengths rather than weaknesses.

Katyayani, we all have some weaknesses, but the beauty lies in how effectively we present ourselves in front of management. Stay positive and win the game.

Dear Kayatani,

Strengths and weaknesses vary from person to person. They also have different methods to observe strengths and weaknesses. The most important thing is that the individual has to know their own strengths and weaknesses. Then, he/she can remove his/her weaknesses or work with the strengths.

From others, you can find out different opinions from different people. So, you have to decide on your own methods and find out the strengths and weaknesses of yourself.

Thank you.
Regards

Dear Katyayani,

The topic is very interesting and important also. How you project yourself for the few minutes in the interview carries a lot of value. If you describe your weakness, it should be put across as a strength. For example, you can say that being a perfectionist and organized are your weaknesses, where you can explain it by mentioning that you get concerned when others do not adhere to it.

It always matters how you deliver the message rather than its contents. All the best!

Dear friends,

Choosing the right candidate for the organization is the ultimate aim of an interview. Hence, besides your educational experience, etc., your personality, aptitude, and approach are immensely focused. I came to know about an incident which I would like to share with people (you may be aware of it earlier).

During one interview, coffee was served to a candidate. Then a question was raised, "What is before 'U'?" He replied, "'T'." His reply was accepted and appreciated. So, as mentioned earlier, indeed we have weaknesses, but our strength lies in how we convert those weaknesses in such a way that we win the game.
