Hi Trupti,

As Jaipal said, you can follow the same. The increment should be given as per benchmarking with other companies of the same designation, performance, self-learning, current project objectives, and future project worth and importance. You can even provide a 100% hike. This is the proposal to the management regarding employees, based on the data provided by HODs.

Hi All, If we were to look at salary increments of 2008, don’t you think the average hike has come down to 8-9% due to recession?

No, these figures are barring the IT sector. For the IT sector, it was slightly higher and is as follows:

Min - 14% to 16%
Avg - 18% to 22%
Max - 27% to 32% (with an additional 2% to 4% for top performers)

The variation is due to the company size, performance, as well as the ranking of the company. For companies like Infosys, Wipro, Sapient, and Microsoft, the percentages would be slightly higher. This is followed by HCL, NIIT with slightly lower percentages, and then slightly unknown companies and so on...

But right now the IT sector specifically the services sector is also very low in many of the mid-size companies. It around 8-12%. Vijay

I think it all depends upon the company's profitability. The normal rate ranges from 10% to 30%. However, when conducting an appraisal of any employee, it is necessary to check their profile, work, and importance in the organization. Analyze how much we can provide and then come to a conclusion.
