Hello friend,

The benefits provided by an organization which will be due at the time of retirement - for example, Provident Fund, Superannuation, and in case the company has its pension scheme - can be considered as a retirement benefit. While gratuity is applicable on completion of 5 years of service and is paid to the employee when he/she leaves the organization, however, this can also be considered as a retirement benefit as it is paid when an employee retires from the organization and not in between.

So this will not be paid if the employee leaves the organization before retirement.

If PF is a separate component, then Retiral benefit will include gratuity & superannuation which are not payable if the employee leaves in 2-3 years.
