Hi friends,
Today, I have read in TOI and also heard on NDTV regarding the new rule on maternity leave and Child Care Policy. As per the rule, maternity leave has been increased from 3 months to 6 months. According to the Child Care Policy, any woman can take 2 years of paid leave to care for her child anytime until the child reaches the age of 18.
My doubt is whether this rule is applicable only to government female employees or if it would also apply to women working in the private sector. Please let me know if any of you have any updates on the same.
Thanks and regards,

In line with Preeti, only female government employees can enjoy this benefit. Never expect this from a private company; they would rather subtly tell the expecting employee to leave her job and hire another in her place, rather than paying 2 years' salary for no work done. These private companies are only concerned with making a profit. If they profit, everything is fine! 😄

Hi friends,
Thank you for your opinion. It's right that private companies won't give 2 years of paid leave, but they could at least increase the maternity leave from 3 months to 6 months. It would be a benefit to the company because if they employ any new person, they have to give them training which would take at least 6 months.
