Hi, I'm planning to upgrade my resume. Do something additional in the field of HR. [I'm an MBA with HR specialization]

Though software packages are not much Greek to me, I am still not clear with SAP in HR, CRM, etc. Can I undergo SAP? But people say it seems to be very costly, and I should select a recognized training institute. It's all vague. I don't have a clear opinion on this. Can anyone suggest to me what to do? And brief me about SAP HR, please.

Hello Buddies,

I am M. Shashikant, and I am working as an IT Recruiter. Yes, SAP is in great demand. However, openings for freshers are not abundant. Normally, SAP training from an authorized institute is costly, but you should explore other institutes as well. Check for their faculties, inquire if they provide any projects, and confirm if they offer placements. If you are considering HR, then opt for SAP-HCM (Human Capital Management), which is an advanced version of SAP HR.

It's a good option. You can inquire with SISL, Genovate Solutions. These are some of the authorized training companies. The cost will be somewhere around 3.5 lakhs for the certified course, but there are some offering it at 40k as well.

Hi Folks,

I have completed an MBA in HR and have 2 years of work experience as an HR Operations Specialist. There are different modules in SAP HR. I have worked on a SAP project focusing on one of the SAP Payroll modules for six months. I am also interested in pursuing SAP HCM in the future. If you come across a good institute, please let me know.

Take care,

Hi Pinky,

SAP stands for System Applications and Products in Data Processing. It is like an ERP. However, when you enroll in the course, you will not work on the front end of SAP HR; instead, you will be customizing data according to the client's needs. You will be building an ERP using SAP.

I have just shared my ideas on what I know about SAP. If anyone has additional knowledge, please update me as well.

Hi All,

SAP HCM is really in high demand. It's for experienced individuals (at least 1-2 years of experience). For freshers, ensure your fundamentals are clear.

If you are interested in SAP HCM training:
- Search for SAP HCM communities on Google, Yahoo, etc.
- Find a reputable training center with experienced faculty.

Patience pays off in the long term. Make sure to have a solid understanding of organizational structure, time management, and payroll.

Valuable resources are also available on Cite HR.

Wishing you all the best for a successful future. May my country prosper.

Dear All,

Nowadays, SAP is a very good career option. If anybody is interested in pursuing SAP-HR, then I would suggest going to SAP authorized centers or institutions only. Even though authorized centers do not guarantee placement, they do assist you in finding a good job. The cost factor is a bit high, but I believe it is worth it. I have attached a Word file that includes the SAP Education Partners in India with addresses and contact numbers. One can learn more by contacting the respective institutes.

Good luck!

It's not about a query in HR but it's related to HR. I just want your suggestions - actually, I have completed my PG Diploma in Personnel Management from YMCA Delhi and now searching for a job as an HR assistant. I have 3 years of experience in admin but I am a fresher in HR, having worked as an HR recruiter. Please suggest, should I leave this admin job and join a job as an HR recruiter to make my career in HR.

My second problem is that I want to do an MBA with a specialization in HR, but I am confused about the university or institutions. I don't know the procedures of MAT exams and when I search on Google, it shows the details of the institutions. Please help me with the procedure to get admission in an MBA in a good university and tell me which universities are the best for this.

Thanks and regards for all.

Dear Anuradha,

You should go for SAP. There shouldn't be any doubts about that. Yes, SAP training is indeed costly, but it will give a lot of weightage to your resume. Apart from that, life is all about learning. Keep on learning and enhancing your knowledge. Best of luck.

Hi guys,

SAP stands for System Application Product; it is a German-based ERP system and very effective. SAP has different modules like HR, PRODUCTION, SALES, CRM, etc. It can be implemented in any industry. If anyone is interested, please approach a good institute or only a SAP-recognized institute. Like Dharmesh already mentioned about good recognized institutes... Yes, it is costly, but it is worth it.

Doing SAP requires a high level of concentration and patience. Opportunities for freshers and trainers are limited; a minimum of 3 years of core experience is necessary to enter the SAP-HR field. I hope you all understand the situation and act accordingly.

Hi,

Just went through the thread. Providing some basic info in simpler terms. Hopefully, it will be helpful.

SAP is an integrated software module or package developed by SAP AG (of German origin) that enables organizations to maintain a common HR database in a scientific manner. This package helps in efficiently managing a wide spectrum of HR functions. The full form for SAP is System Application Products (in Data Processing). It includes various modules/tools to take care of various functions in HR.

- Organisation Management
- Personnel Administration
- Recruitment
- Personnel Development
- Compensation Management
- Time Management
- Payroll
- Some Additional Components

Implications for HR Professionals:
Most of the HR decisions are data-based, and foolproof maintenance of the same is inevitable. SAP provides streamlined data that can be accessed from anywhere. Integration of data can be helpful in making rational decisions. It can also save the cost of companies by avoiding duplication of work.

About doing an SAP course:
Doing it from SISL or Genovate will cost high. It's true that companies prefer certified professionals over others, but now the trend is changing. If you have 3+ years of domain experience and 1 year of SAP experience, then even if you are not certified, you are accepted.

Again, now SAP HR is changed to SAP HCM (next version). Though I personally feel it's just a change of name with some additional components and the basic requirements remain the same, your basic understanding of HR workflows and concepts.

5 months, 1-year experience. Nobody counts these as training periods. After the completion of 1-year training, then only can you justify your presence anywhere in the HR world, in particular functions. If you have understood the things with implementation.

Hi,

SAP HR is an ERP package with many modules across different domains like HR, Finance, Sales, MM, and more.

For individuals in HR looking to transition to SAP, it is essential to have some domain experience initially. This means gaining practical hands-on experience in various areas such as payroll, time office, recruitment, appraisals, training & development, etc.

SAP HR encompasses numerous modules like payroll, which includes break schedules and daily schedules. In configuring break schedules, there are paid breaks, unpaid breaks, and shifts. Each criterion requires the configuration of a specific break schedule. Having prior experience in payroll processing and time management with different shifts can facilitate a better understanding of these concepts. Therefore, it is advisable to have at least 2 years of HR experience before delving into SAP HR.

Regarding opportunities, there are limited openings for SAP roles for freshers. However, undergoing training adds value to one's resume and enables skill enhancement with an ERP package.

Opportunities in SAP can be classified into two categories: consultants (involved in implementing SAP for clients) and users (working in companies utilizing SAP for HR functions). Obtaining training in SAP is beneficial for both roles.

Certifications for SAP are provided by SIEMENS, the authorized organization, albeit at a high cost. Local institutes in various locations also offer training in SAP modules. Those who can afford certification fees can pursue it, while others can opt for training in the latest version of SAP HR at reputable institutes.

In terms of job profiles, consulting roles in SAP may involve extensive travel depending on allocated projects. Consultants might have to work on-site at client locations for varying durations. Individuals willing to travel frequently and prepared for unexpected trips may find this career path suitable.

The insights shared are based on my practical experience and knowledge, as I am trained in SAP HR and have received an offer from a CMML company for SAP HR.

Any suggestions regarding the above content are welcome.

Hi All,

We also implemented SAP Human Capital Management recently. However, we implemented only the Organizational Management module, Time Management, Personnel Administration, and Payroll. It was a great experience for me as well, and it is very user-friendly. We could access all the 8000+ employees' data from one database. I would also advise anyone who is interested to somehow try and learn it from a reputed place because there is a huge demand, and the salary scales are really high.

Hi all,

For any ERP package, sound domain knowledge is highly required. If anybody would like to pursue the course, many institutes are available in the market. At the same time, one should also ensure the credibility of the institute and the reputation of the same. Basically, many colleges in Bangalore are offering the courses. However, institutes like Oracle charge a huge fee structure, and even the requirements to pass vary from college to college.

With all this preliminary background, one can proceed to obtain the certification. Personally, I suggest and believe that strong domain knowledge is required.

1. Siemens is not authorized to give SAP certificates. SAP certification comes only from SAP, through an online exam.

Dear All,

If I am wrong, please correct me.

You are discussing SAP and ERP, but in my opinion, these packages can be learned by anyone. The real challenge lies in understanding the human aspect. Dealing with human resources is complex, requiring an understanding of their feelings and emotions to solve problems and ensure their happiness at work.

Working with software packages is straightforward; for example, 2+2=4. The system will guide you if you make a mistake. However, making a mistake in handling HR issues can hinder company growth.

I look forward to your valuable comments on this.

Hello, Guys,

SAP stands for System Application & Products. For the IT industry, if the candidate has implementation experience in SAP with a minimum of 2+ years, it is fine if he does it from any institution. However, for freshers, they usually opt for SAP from an Authorized Institution, especially IBM, but HR non-IT experience is a must. SAP HR is basically for professionals from an HR background. SAP HR includes various modules such as "time management," "payroll," "ESS," "MSS," "Recruitment," etc. It is meant to simplify the way of working. If somebody does SAP HR from a normal institute, then please check if they are providing any projects, especially in "Implementation." I also want to do SAP, but in my opinion, a basic experience of a minimum of 2 years in HR should be there before moving to SAP.

My thoughts:

SAP has many modules, and HR is one of the modules (other modules being FICO/MM/SD, etc.). It's in great demand; people who work on SAP are in demand too. SAP is an end-to-end ERP package. A minimum of 2 years of functional or HR domain experience is recommended before taking up SAP HR training. There are training institutes that provide training on SAP, but the job is not guaranteed. Siemens in India is an authorized SAP partner for training people on SAP. Ideally, if you work in an organization that has SAP implemented, it's a great way of learning, and then you could get trained. The SAP functional consultant role is something which non-techies could look for, as SAP technical roles require technical background and coding abilities. Hence, persons with HR domain experience (minimum 2 years) would become a SAP functional consultant, whereas techies (coders) are taken for SAP ABAP role.

Dear Jinamayee,

SAP stands for System Application Program, and it applies to all organizations, whether IT or non-IT. It is a program that enables information distribution to all levels and verticals within the organization. For example, an accounts manager may need information about the status of debts in the organization. What he requires is a summary of the entire debt account. SAP will enable him to access this information. Additionally, if his junior requires information about dealings with a particular bank, SAP will provide detailed information as well. SAP functions as an umbrella catering to the information needs of the entire organization.

Hi All,

For working on SAP HR implementation or support, one should have functional knowledge of the HR system. It is like any automated HR system but with vast options that can be customized according to the organization's needs. My opinion is that it would be better to have three years of functional experience before trying to understand and work on ERP systems like SAP HR.

Dear friends,

Nowadays, the most sought-after professional expertise is SAP-HR. There are two types of approaches to acquiring this skill. One option is to receive coaching from SIEMENS. I agree that this option can be costly (roughly 3 lakhs). The second option is to learn from local institutes. Upon completing a course from a local institute, you will need to work with senior functionals to gain practical experience.

Choose for yourself.

Hi All,

I'm not an expert, but would like to share through my experience. SAP, Oracle, PeopleSoft, etc., are almost the same, with a different interface. For freshers, my advice would be to join as a trainee where they can learn about these ERPs and start working on them, even if they are not paid well. Once you get the hang of one ERP, you can learn and implement any other ERP.

For experienced HR professionals, it's a big decision whether you want to attend a esteemed institute spending 3.5 lacs with no job guarantee or opt for any institute spending 40k with no job guarantee. Additionally, if you learn SAP, there will be opportunities for Oracle and vice versa. Hence, think before you act.

Many companies in India are implementing SAP modules, especially HR, which is in great demand. One requires minimum experience to work as an SAP consultant. You require domain knowledge for it. You need not always depend on reputed institutes; even medium institutes will be okay if you can put your efforts into exploring the subject. It's not tough, but practice is a must.

Hi friends,

I am Prajith, and I was designated as an HR Executive, especially dealing with SAP recruitments. Actually, SAP stands for System Application Products (in Data Processing). The origin is from Germany, and now it's hot in the market.

It's both technical and functional. ABAP, BASIS are all technical modules, whereas FICO (Finance & Control), S&D (Sales & Distribution), MM (Materials Management), PP (Production Planning), and HR (Human Resource) come under Functional Modules.

You need to learn SAP based on your qualification and experience. Most often, when you learn SAP, you will be recruited as a consultant. You will be responsible for implementing SAP in a company.

Any kind of company can implement SAP. But the modules mentioned above are in great demand.

You can go for SAP certification at any of the authorized centers in India, but it will cost more. You can study from local institutes where they charge from 20,000 onwards, depending upon the module.

Respond to me if you want more details about SAP. But you need to know more before you jump into it.

I think this will be useful to you, or mail me at prajiths@ymail.com for details.

Dear All,

SAP stands for Software Application Programming. SAP has different importance in various departments. Here, we will discuss the HR module of SAP. In the HR module, SAP holds an important place because it is a ready-made software. Through SAP in the HR module, we can easily find every query in a short amount of time. Here, we can easily access the master roll, pay slips, Form 16, Form 5, Form 10, Form 3A, and many other forms related to HR. Therefore, we can conclude that SAP is a ready-made software that allows us to work easily and efficiently.
