I completed my engineering this May and have been placed in a software company on campus itself. Since June, I have been sitting idle at home, so I thought of working in a call center. Getting the call center job wasn't that difficult, but now I think I may face a problem. When I receive the call for joining from the company where I got placed, I'll have to leave the call center, and I don't want my software company to have any idea about my call center job.

Can you help me and tell me whether I will end up in any legal hassles if I simply quit from the call center without any prior notice? Please suggest what I should do after receiving my call (joining date) from the software company. I have joined the call center just this month! (I haven't signed any bond, and I am supposed to give one month's notice before resigning.)

Thanks in advance!

As you have joined the call center this month, you are still on probation. You can leave the call center immediately. Try talking to the management in your call center. Tell them you want to quit immediately and cannot complete the one-month notice period. They cannot stop you. Moreover, you have not signed any bond with them. Kindly note, a bond is not legal. Only a bond wherein it is stated that the company has spent money on your training is legal. Hence, you can quit without any worry of any legal hassles. To be safe, do not reveal the name of the software company to anybody in the call center.

Hi Rokki,

It's good that you did not want to sit idle. However, you made a wrong choice by getting into a Call Centre. My sincere advice would be to leave the Call Centre job. If you have time, please enroll in a Training Institute to enhance your software skills. When you join a Software Company, you will have limited time to learn new things. To secure a better future in your career, focus on improving your knowledge of Java and Advanced Java concepts. Additionally, consider visiting nearby libraries to stay updated on the latest trends in the market.
