Hello everybody, I am new to this forum and have received a call for GD/PI from TISS for HRM. I come from a BTech background, so I don't know much about HR. If you could please help me out by suggesting any websites or concepts that are important to know for such interviews...

In a group discussion (GD), you will be judged on the following parameters:
- Communication Skills
- Leadership Qualities
- Ability to think at a fast pace
- Convincing Power

Wait, wait, wait!
First of all, hearty congratulations to Ms. Sreerupa for cracking the TISS test.
I have been through all the written test, GD, and PI at TISS. During that time (circa 2004), the written paper consisted of 70 marks. We had to write an essay, followed by a GD which carried 30 marks.
At the end of the day, the combined result of the written test and GD would be released, based on which candidates would be shortlisted for the PI.
The PI at TISS is one of the most dreaded experiences you will have in your life. Interviews started at 8 am, and my turn came at 8 pm. Even after getting bored and feeling sleepy from doing nothing for 12 hours, I entered the PI chamber with a fake smile on my face. As luck would have it, I was grilled!
The PI consists of 70 marks, and past academic records consist of 30 marks. Your selection for TISS depends on these 100 marks. The earlier marks from the written test and GD are not considered.
Tips for the written test:
- Abilities to exhibit:
- Written English skills
- Ability to think
- Ability to express your opinions/thoughts
- Knowledge of current affairs
Tips for GD:
- Be calm
- Being aggressive and snatching others' opportunities to speak won't do any good. I barely managed to speak twice, with a total of five words each time, and yet I was selected. There was a girl who dominated the whole GD and left us dumbstruck; she wasn't shortlisted.
- Speak to the point
Tips for the PI:
- Be super calm
- Show your knowledge of current affairs
- Be true to yourself and don't bluff
