One of my employees is covered under ESI, and his wife is pregnant with their second baby. My question is, what benefits are available for a staff member's wife's maternity? What procedures should the employer follow to help the employee avail of ESI benefits?

Dear Kumujegan,

The insured person's (I.P.) wife can avail medical benefits from ESI hospitals/dispensaries. The I.P. can also claim transport allowance if his residence is far away from the ESI Hospital at the time of delivery. To receive medical benefits, it is necessary that her name is included on the ESI card. Apart from medical facilities, she is not entitled to any cash benefits.

HI, He will get all the medical facilities if he enrolled his wife in ESI card and organization also provide him 15 day parental leave as per rules.
