Hi, I am working in an MNC company and currently, I am serving my notice period. I am in a situation where my last working day is on 20th October, but my joining date in the new organization is 18th October. However, my Manager and HR are not willing to provide me leverage for 2 days. In this case, what should I do?

Dear Partner, Please do not ever try joining the new company on 18th Oct if your last working date with your current employer is on 20th Oct. This can raise issues of dual employment, which can affect your career forever, especially when it comes to background verification records in the future. It would be better to ask your future employer to postpone the joining date to the 21st or any other suitable date.

Hi, Additionally, if you proceed in this manner, your current employer will close your file after the disciplinary process. They will mark a date in October, while your new employer will mark your Date of Joining as the 18th of October, 2022, for Provident Fund purposes. This could potentially lead to issues in transferring or claiming your Provident Fund.

Advice on Handling Date Conflicts
Therefore, it is advisable to politely request your current employer for a two-day exemption. If that is not feasible, you can make the same request to your new employer to postpone your Date of Joining by two days.

Very good suggestions above. It is always to better to convince the present and future employers to relieve and join. It may lead to some undesirable consequences later.
