Dear Colleague,
Debriefing on the Development Centre Report
Debriefing on the Development Centre report is typically conducted by a well-trained professional who has a strong understanding and practical application of the tools used during the ADC. The report is a straightforward document, but many participants may not have the knack or ability to fully comprehend it. Therefore, debriefing is a crucial step in the ADC process.
In this hand-holding process, it is suggested to follow:
1. Firstly, share the report in full as a soft copy with the participant, along with instructions to have a general reading of the report. Then, await a one-on-one session where the professional will provide a briefing.
2. The reports usually have a solid scientific base of the tools adopted and how the interpretations are made.
3. The report will also contain the participant's strengths, areas for development, opportunities to further improve their focus areas, and other detailed information.
4. The debriefing session is scheduled one-on-one at a pre-announced time and date.
5. The facilitator provides a comprehensive understanding of the background of the ADC and the tools adopted.
6. They guide the participant to focus on key parts of the report where further attention is needed in the upcoming days and how it will benefit them individually and professionally.
7. Once the participant understands the report, the facilitator assists in developing a plan that the participant creates themselves.
8. The draft development plan is collaboratively created with the facilitator, and the participant is required to consult with their immediate manager and HR for additional support before finalizing the development plan.
9. There will be a follow-up session on the progress of the development plan and any necessary adjustments.
I hope this helps clarify the debriefing process for you.
Best regards,
