I have one query regarding claiming LTA in my organization.

Actually, my parents have traveled from one origin to destination using a train. They got their seat on the train as they belong to the senior citizen quota, but I didn't get a seat. I have traveled between the same origin and destination using a hired taxi.

Our origin and destination are the same, but our modes of transport are different. Can I claim LTA with this? Thanks

Please check your organizational rules for LTA-mode of travel. Many organizations do not include taxi or private cars as a mode of travel when the origin and end place are connected by rail and/or public transport.

Have you got a stamped receipt from the taxi driver, and what was the mode of payment to the driver?

You can not claim Taxi bill, LTA can only be claimed for train and airfare.

I have checked my organization's policies and found that I can claim the taxi bill for LTA as well. However, I am not sure if different modes of transport are permissible for parents and employees, considering the origin and destination are the same.

Then there should be no issue. Please speak to HR about the matter. Why should there be a problem if policy permits taxi travel. It is not mandatory for entire family to travel together for LTA
