Dear seniors,

Please guide me on the following situation: one employee has been on duty from 8:30 AM to 4:20 PM on a particular day. When he enters the office premises, the recorded time of arrival is 4:20 PM. However, he raises a concern that if anything were to happen to him during the period from 8:30 to 4:20, the company may refuse to take responsibility since his official in-time was marked as 4:20 PM, even though he was on office duty.

This employee is a sample assistant in my company and was out handling site complaints from 8:30 AM until he returned at 4:20 PM.

My question is: should I consider his in-time as 4:20 PM in the attendance records with the remark "Office duty," or is he correct in suggesting that his in-time should be from 8:30 AM onwards?

The official office hours are from 10:00 AM to 7:30 PM.

Kindly provide your suggestions.

Thank you,
Tarun

Thank you.

This is not an argument as to why I should not put him in at 8:30 a.m. as he was working in the office. My point is, he entered the office premises at 4:20 p.m., although he was on office duty, the timing should reflect 4:20 p.m. with office duty. So, who is right, me or the staff member?

Thank you,
Tarun
