Respected seniors,

This is Ramu, working as Manager-HR in a manufacturing unit. My query is regarding the licensing process for the canteen when operated by a contractor under the purview of Food Safety Authorities. Is this requirement applicable to industries?

Another question I have is related to companies maintaining guest houses where food is prepared. In such cases, is an FSSAI license necessary for guest houses?

I would appreciate your advice on these matters.

When 'food' items are traded (preparation & sale), a license from local authorities like Corporation/Health Dept./Food & safety norms would be necessary, which also requires GST registration.

A guest house maintained by a firm to accommodate their own guests providing/serving them in-house boarding & lodging doesn't require such licenses as company-run guest houses are not considered as hotels or catering outlets. But when such guest houses trade in food items, then a license is necessary.
