One of my friends was caught by the police while driving back home. He was drunk but was within limits. He was caught by the police, and they filed an FIR on him under Section 75 of the TNCP ACT (Petty offense for verbal abuse). He paid the fine with some additional amount, and they let him go in 30 minutes. Now the police are uploading FIRs online, and this record is online.
Questions about FIR and its implications
1. Can the police let him go after getting a fine/money even after an FIR? Previously, people would go to mobile court and pay the fine.
2. He did not get any message from the court, but the FIR status shows a closure report/charge sheet sent to court. Can the police collect the fine on the court's behalf?
3. He got an offer from an IT MNC, and his background verification is in progress. Will this affect his career?
4. Will this create any issue while applying for passport renewal/visa for foreign travel?
I did some inquiry in the known circle, and it seems petty offenses are not treated as badly as expected, but he is very much afraid and is already sorry for this. Any advice would be greatly helpful. Thanks.

State the facts properly. Did they take money or a fine from him and leave him? If an FIR is registered, how can the police impose a fine? If an FIR is registered, he has to appear in court mandatorily. You are saying the chargesheet has been sent to the court. Has it been sent to the court? Drinking and driving is a serious offense, and the police cannot issue a spot fine. So please confirm whether they took a fine from him and still submitted the chargesheet to the court.
