I'm a nursery teacher in a private school. They are giving me only 4500 Rs/month. Is this legal as per the Uttarakhand Minimum Wages Notification (Oct 2017)? If not, what should I do? Please help me. I'm NTT, double MA, BEd.

As per the Uttarakhand Minimum Wages Notification from October 2017, the minimum wage rates for different categories of workers are specified. It is important to note that the minimum wage rates can vary based on the category of employment and the skill level required. Considering your qualifications and role as a nursery teacher, receiving only 4500 Rs/month may not align with the minimum wage standards set by the Uttarakhand government.

Here are some steps you can take to address this issue effectively:

Step 1: Verify the Minimum Wage Rates
- Check the specific minimum wage rates applicable to nursery teachers in Uttarakhand as per the latest notification.

Step 2: Approach the Employer
- Request a meeting with your employer to discuss your salary and express your concerns regarding the discrepancy between your current pay and the minimum wage stipulated by the government.

Step 3: Seek Clarification
- Seek clarification from your employer on the salary structure and any additional benefits that may be included in your compensation package.

Step 4: Document Everything
- Maintain a record of all communications with your employer regarding your salary, including emails, letters, and meeting notes.

Step 5: Contact Relevant Authorities
- If your concerns are not addressed satisfactorily by your employer, consider reaching out to the labor department or relevant authorities in Uttarakhand to report the violation of minimum wage laws.

Step 6: Seek Legal Advice
- If necessary, seek legal advice from a labor law attorney to understand your rights and explore further options for resolution.

It is crucial to ensure that you are fairly compensated in accordance with the legal requirements. Taking proactive steps to address this issue will help protect your rights as an employee and uphold the labor laws in Uttarakhand.
