Hello All, I am an aspiring HR professional seeking help from all of you! I joined a company in December 2015 and have been working there to date. Previously, I worked for 2.10 years and had a UAN number from that company. Due to a human error, two UAN numbers were generated. Firstly, this should not be possible as I have only one mobile number. Besides, I have not activated it, and I do not wish to do so. All my PF earnings from the second (current) company are going into this account. Please advise on what I should do. I simply want to use my old UAN and not the one that was generated.

Merger of both UANs is possible, but your old account would get credited to the new account. If interested, you can activate the new UAN and proceed with One Employee One PF.
Hi Sahil,
In your second (present) company, I think they (employer) did not ask you to fill Form No. 11 to link your new PF account to your UAN (old). They created a new UAN (for statutory requirements) for your new PF account in the present company.
Ask your employer (of the second or present company) to link the new PF account to the old UAN (by filling Form No. 11 or Declaration).

Duplicate UAN Numbers: How to Resolve the Issue
When I left my previous company, I submitted an online transfer claim form (Form-13) and received an email confirmation that the transfer claim had been approved by my previous employer. I have now joined a new company and have submitted Form-11 (declaration form) while informing my new employer about my existing UAN number and past EPF account details. The new employer has opened a new EPF account/Member ID but has not linked this to my existing previous UAN, resulting in duplicate UAN numbers being allotted.
Queries Regarding Duplicate UAN Numbers
I have some queries regarding this situation:
1) Which UAN should I use?
2) Does this situation result in a break in pensionable service length?
Please advise.

Dear Seniors,
Greetings to all!
As per the process, we have tried merging the UAN numbers, but while doing this, the old UAN gives me an error indicating that the present employer has not contributed. I am also unable to transfer claims from the previous account to the current account.
Regards,
Umesh
