Dear seniors,

I am in my 10th week of pregnancy and have been on medical leave for the past two weeks. I have requested two more weeks of leave from HR as I am experiencing frequent vomiting. However, HR has denied my request, stating that as a small company, they are unable to provide medical leave for more than three weeks. I have been informed that I must either return to work or resign.

Could you please clarify if it is permissible for the company to deny medical leave at any stage of pregnancy? Additionally, I would appreciate advice on how to respond to the email I received from HR.

Thank you.

Hi Neha,

The leave which you are requesting is pre-maternity leave because of your health reasons. The law will not support you in this case; however, you can personally speak with HR to find solutions.
