Hello friends,

I want to promote an employee from a non-managerial job to a managerial post. Definitely, I have to find ways to fill the skill gaps. Please suggest current industrial practices for doing so (preferably with organization names).

Also, what are the procedures to be followed to send employees for an executive MBA or distance MBA program, and approximately how much will it cost? What are other popular ways to prepare an employee for a managerial position?

Career Planning and Development

Career planning is an important HR intervention. It is good to note that you have taken up this intervention. Nevertheless, it has to be extended to all key employees and cannot be restricted to just one employee.

Earlier, I have given my reply on career planning. Click the following link to refer: https://www.citehr.com/519439-how-ma...employees.html

For the Leadership Development Programme (LDP), click the following link to refer to it: https://www.citehr.com/126263-leader...-download.html

I recommend you prepare the Career Development Plan (CDP) on your own. Assistance in developing it further will be given subject to the availability of time.

Thanks,

Dinesh Divekar

Dear Pritesh,

An ideal way to carry out this activity is by preparing a career development plan, keeping in mind various aspects such as years of experience in the organization, performance chart, etc., for evaluating the right candidate for the same.

Apart from that, you can look into various leadership development programs, MIM programs (Manager in Making), short-term diploma courses, team-building courses, etc.

Thank you,
