Dear All,

Please help me understand if an employee absconds from day 2 of joining, what should be the procedure followed. The appointment letter was not released; only the offer letter was given. However, an employee ID was generated.

Would appreciate your help.

I am writing to inform you that the job offer for the position of [position title], as stated in our letter dated [date], is hereby withdrawn in full. This decision is due to your failure to report for work starting from [specific date].

It is important for you to understand that as an employee, it is expected that you demonstrate diligence and a level of loyalty to your employer and the job at hand. Your absence from work starting on the second day, without any communication, is unacceptable.

Please consider this letter as a formal notification of the withdrawal of the job offer. Your cooperation and understanding in this matter are appreciated.

Sincerely,
[Your Title]

Hi,

If your organization has a rehire policy, then there is no point in sending a cancellation letter. Wherever he/she comes for rejoining, management can decide on his/her hiring at that time.

Generating an employee ID is all okay; there is nothing to fuss about it. Let it remain in the system stating "Not Active."

Hope this suffices and is helpful.

Organizations do have rehire policies. However, I am sure no company will rehire someone who has absconded on the second day itself.

I agree. If an employee had stayed back for quite some time in the system, but in just two days, one cannot judge a person's exit. So, at that point in time, whenever he/she comes back, management can decide whether to hire or not.

Mr. Pereira,

Please wait at least for 10 days. In case he does not turn up for duty, you may issue the letter as advised by our learned members. It is not justified to come to the conclusion of absconding within 2 days. If there is any theft or loss, you should report it to the police in the concerned area.

It is too early to come to the conclusion of absconding within 2 days of joining unless any evidence. Adoni Suguresh Laboour \laws Consultant
