Hi Shefali,

I, being from the healthcare industry, can say that there are a lot of job opportunities in healthcare across various categories. It's not only for doctors and nurses but also for the support service departments, which include administration, food and beverage, housekeeping, finance, materials/purchase, security, human resources, front office/reception, telephones, operations, and marketing. Therefore, you can well imagine the amount of business you can generate from the healthcare industry. If you have any other queries related to this, feel free to ask.

Regards,
Shweta Mishra Singh.

Dear Shefali,

Ms. Shweta Mishra Singh has rightly summed up the entire thing. I would like to understand from Ms. Mishra Singh if preference would be given to Non-Clinical manpower over Clinical Manpower for recruitments in support areas.

I also request Ms. Mishra to let me know about any suitable opportunities in Operations.

Regards,
Sudhanshu

Currently, I want to ask how should I go about it as a recruitment fresher? How to approach clients? How to start a new business? ETC... ETC...

Hi,

I am Dr. Sneha, and I have learned that there is a lot of scope in the healthcare domain. It's a rising sun always! Nobody would ever compromise on health, so it's always in demand. However, having the right skill set and experiential learning really matters. Nobody wants to train while on the job; they look forward to trained, capable people with a combination of healthcare and management skills.

Do let me know if anybody needs help or suggestions.

Regards,
Dr. Sneha

As per the latest industry trends, I am sharing some of the key opportunities in the healthcare sector. There is a huge requirement for professionals who are specially trained in healthcare/hospital administration.

Healthcare Administration:

• India is gradually gaining popularity as a health tourist destination.

• Healthcare tourism is expected to grow at an annual rate of 50% in the period 2012-2020.

• The biggest driver for growth in healthcare tourism is the differentiation in medical expenses compared to Western countries.

• India ranks second in the world in medical tourism after Thailand.

• 100 percent foreign direct investment (FDI) is permitted for health and medical services under the automatic route.

• India's healthcare insurance sector is also expected to grow at an annual rate of 40%.

• To meet manpower shortages, the Indian government is investing 20 billion dollars over the next five years.

Job Profiles: Quality Assurance Manager, Hospital Administrator, Corporate Health Manager.

Top Companies: Medanta Medicity, Columbia Asia, Fortis, Sri Ganga Ram Hospitals, Apollo Hospitals, Max Healthcare.

Thanks.

Hello Rahul Mukherjee, I am a B.E. in electrical engineering. Could you please shed some light on whether I can pursue a course in health administration? I have taken admission to Tata Institute of Social Sciences for that. I fear that due to my lack of IT experience, I would be sidelined during placements. I have heard that IT companies prefer those experienced in the IT domain to work in the healthcare IT sector. Is it true?

Thank you.

Apologies for the delay in my reply (in the event I have not replied to you by email... I did receive quite a few emails regarding my response here).

Reassurance Regarding TISS Placements

I do not think you need to fear TISS sidelining you during placements. It is such a reputable brand that it is highly unlikely they would be dismissive towards you. Remember, everyone brings something unique to the negotiating table. You need to identify what sets you apart and what unique talents or skills you possess that a potential recruiter would find compelling.

Acquiring IT Skills in Healthcare Administration

IT skills can be acquired, especially in the field of Healthcare Administration, I believe. The complexity arises when there are numerous stakeholders, and everyone's satisfaction needs to be maintained.

Exploring Opportunities in the Hospitality Industry

Just so you are aware, there may be opportunities within the hospitality industry for individuals with a Healthcare Administration qualification. It is simply a suggestion, but do explore the niche opportunities that are available. I would also advise that you rely on your own efforts in securing a job that suits you, or else you may end up settling for something that was never your preference.

Hope this guidance is helpful. Cheers!

Seeking Guidance for Hospital Jobs in Pune

Respected seniors, I felt enthusiastic about your posts. My name is Suma Chakrasali, and I have pursued an MBA in healthcare services with a paramedic background. I am looking for hospital jobs in Pune as a fresher. I have been trying for the past four months and have applied to almost every hospital. However, wherever I applied, I received the response, "We will let you know when there is a vacancy." I have not received a single call for an interview, and I don't know what to do next. If anyone can help me in finding any admin-related jobs in Pune, please email me at [Email Removed For Privacy Reasons].

Thanks in advance.

I am a student planning to go for BDS this year. After completing BDS, if I plan to pursue my MBA in health management, will there be any scope at that time? In short, I want to know about the scope in health management in the next 6 to 7 years.
