Honorable Courts are "public authorities" as defined under Section 2(h) of the RTI Act, 2005, and are required to furnish information by virtue of provisions contained in the said Act.
Before submitting an application on the prescribed form, you may ascertain the designation and address of the Public Information Officer, who is the concerned officer to furnish you with the information under the said Act. This information can be ascertained from the website of the concerned Honorable District Court/High Court.

Yes, the court also comes under the RTI Act. However, you cannot ask for the following information:
1. Any matter that is sub judice.
2. Any information that may affect the progress of the case.
3. Any personal information.
4. Any information that may pose a threat to an individual's life.
5. Any information that may harm India's sovereignty.
6. Any information that may harm India's relations with other countries.
7. Any information prohibited under the Official Secrets Act.
