Hello everyone, although I am an old member, this is my first question on this forum. I have been working from 2002 to 2012 in the hospitality and Human Resources sector. Due to childbirth in June 2012, I have been a homemaker raising my baby. I am now planning to start working in Mumbai but would like to update my CV first. How can I fill the gap of 1.6 years? Can I mention that I was a homemaker during that time? What details should I include? Your valuable suggestions would be highly appreciated.

Thanks & Regards,
Marianne

Addressing Employment Gaps: A Personal Perspective

In your case, there is a genuine reason for not being in employment for 1.6 years. Why should it be mandatory for everyone to work continuously without a break until they are unfit to perform any job?

There is nothing wrong with taking a break to have a child or raise children. Home and family are vital aspects of humanity and the social system. Anyone who thinks otherwise is irrational.

Please ensure that you fill in the correct facts in your CV and be firm and brave in defending your decision regarding the break.

Warm regards.
