I am working in a textile company. Our company is deducting PF on the basic pay of Rs. 6,500 only. However, some of our employees whose salary is above Rs. 6,500 want to contribute to PF, but our company is not ready to contribute the share. Please kindly advise me on how and how much to deduct from their salary and how to pay the challan.

Your prompt assistance is greatly appreciated.

If the company is already deducting Rs. 6500, then there are no issues. As part of the employee's salary, they can contribute the entire basic as a voluntary contribution, and the company can restrict it to Rs. 6500. In this scenario, the company will not lose anything, but the employee can save more on PF.

One of our employees' salary is ₹28,000/-. If he wants to contribute to his PF voluntarily, then his share will be ₹780 + ₹780 = ₹1,560. Is it correct? I also have a doubt about how to pay the challan for the same. Currently, the challan is paid in ECR format, so how can I make the payment?

It would be greatly appreciated if you could provide me with some examples regarding this matter.

Thank you very much for your reply.

I understand that I have to deduct the total amount from employees, including the employer's share. What about the 1.61%? Should the 1.61% be deducted from the employee? If so, then I have to deduct 25.6% from the employee, right? Is 780 + 780 + 105 (1.61%) correct?

Thanks & Regards,
