I am a recruiter and I am recruiting a girl who has 1 year and 6 months of experience for an HR profile in a company. I asked her for details, i.e., salary details and profile. She told me she is getting 25,000 per month. The company is relocating, which is why she is looking for a change. She also mentioned that she is an HR Manager at Astin Technology Pvt Ltd (an IT company). After cross-checking, I found out that she is an HR Executive in the company, and the company is not relocating. Could anyone please inform me about the HR Executive package? Also, what kind of questions should I frame to cross-check the background?

Waiting for a reply.

Candidate Integrity and Verification

She is lying upfront, which can be easily verified. I would suggest that you drop this candidate and look for another. However, if you and your company are okay with this (considering she is not being offered any senior-level position other than the HR manager role she lied about), then you can go ahead! You should bring this to the notice of your employer. Making a placement with a false candidate is not acceptable. You should rather think about making a placement that has some credibility.

Normally, these things, whether a company is moving or not, are not verified. But you went an extra step ahead and verified that (kudos to you on the background check). However, lying about one's designation is certainly not acceptable. The usual checks include the date of employment, designation, and salary. You can add as many questions as you see fit (please do consider that your checks should not reveal that this lady is seeking employment as this may jeopardize her current employment).

Thanks,

Sam

There are some industry salary comparison websites. I used one called Salary in India, Salary Survey, Minimum Wage in India - PayCheck.in.

According to them, an HR executive with 2 years of experience will earn about 18-20k. Of course, locations, companies, and segments would make a difference. IT companies probably pay more.

However, if someone is lying, then she should not be considered, as other things she says may equally be at fault.

Trustworthiness in Recruitment

The recruitment process is meant to find the right candidate. If a person is lying about their designation and salary, I would not hire such an individual. How can you trust someone who lies at the very outset? My suggestion is not to employ them.

Thank you so much for your replies. Moreover, I want to share more facts. She called me and requested to join. I then told her that there were negative cross-checks, so I am not going to give her an appointment. Then she told me that the company never confirmed the relocation factor and that we would still have an office in Delhi. This gives a bad impression to the customer. She is saying she wants to join an IT company and is willing to accept a compensation of 15,000 per month. These are quite funny and interesting facts that I have come across.

Well, thanks again, everyone.
