We have been approached by a few Nepali citizens who said that Indian banks have suggested that since Nepali nationals do not require a visa, they cannot open NRO/NRE accounts. Additionally, they definitely cannot open a normal savings account because a local address proof is needed, which is impossible to produce. So, what can be done? We have some Nepali employees in our company and want to open savings accounts for all of them, but they do not have any identification from the Indian government. How is it possible to open bank accounts for Nepali individuals? Please reply soon.

Thanks.

Please confirm whether the candidate has a work permit for India or not because it is true that a visa and passport are not required to come to India, but for work, as per Indian law, we need work permit documents. If the person has a work permit, you can mention the company address on your letterhead for communication with the bank.

Thank you,

Ashish
