My contract for being a visiting faculty for one subject for one semester in a management college was canceled midway for no fault of mine by the principal. On my representation to the management, a discussion was held, and a management member apologized and agreed to pay the rest of the money by assigning related duties to compensate for it. However, in action, no such thing happened. I have sent many reminders, but there has been no reply. It has been six months since this happened. How do I make them pay the remaining contract money?

When the assignment is canceled, there is no way to get paid for it. However, it is necessary to see the offer letter/terms and conditions to determine if this point is clarified. If there is any mention of cancellation and compensation, you have the right to claim the amount.

I had accepted the contract before foregoing other assignments. How do I make up for the loss? And what is the penalty that can be sought for their wrongful action if there is no explicit mention about compensation?
