Please check with the concerned authorities of the State Government (generally local bodies where your organization is situated) and get confirmation. They will issue a receipt for each individual. You may approach your employer for the receipt first, and if they are not giving it, approach the PT authorities with the date of remittance proof.

Employer's Liabilities: PTax and PF

Both Professional Tax (PTax) and Provident Fund (PF) are the employer's liabilities. You can obtain information from your company's Accounts department.

For PF details, visit the EPFO site, provide your mobile number, and receive information about your PF balance within an hour. Afterward, cross-check with your salary slip or HR department for the PF Annual Return 3A and 6A.

Checking PF and PT Payments

In the PF website, you can see the details of payments made by your company, including the list of members. Please check whether your name appears in that list or not.

In the case of PT, you need not worry much, as you are not going to get back that deducted amount. However, just ensure that the PT deduction during the FY is captured in Form 16 and the same is reduced from your total income to calculate TDS.

Employee's Options for Unpaid PF Contributions

If a company has not paid or credited the Provident Fund (PF) amount for an employee since October 2012 for the FY 2012-2013, as it appears in the employee's PF Passbook, but has deducted money from their salary, the employee seems liable since it is their hard-earned money. But what can they do to make the employer address this issue?
