I joined this company in September 2011 and was present at the last annual bonus distribution during Diwali. My company gave me Rs 3000 as consolation since I was new in the company. Now, I have completed a year in this company. I would like to know if my company will provide me with my full basic salary as a yearly bonus, as it is a normal practice in this company, or if they will calculate my bonus on a pro-rata basis for the accounting year.

Thank you.

Bonus Calculation Methods

Generally, all companies follow two methods. They may calculate on the Pro Rata Basis of the Accounting Year. Kindly check through the cut-off months for the bonus payable period, for example, from April 2011 to March 2012 or the Diwali Period (November 2011) to Diwali Period (November 2012).

During these periods, the Earned Basic will be calculated for the year, and 8.33%/12.33% will be paid as per the company policies. Many companies may opt for Ex-Gratia as well.
