As you have not provided enough details about your organization (such as size and who you would like to include), please visit the [Deutsche Post DHL | UPstairs - scholarship program for employees' children](http://dpdhl.com) for more information. The concept or the thought supporting the idea to "support employees' children's education from the beginning" needs further elaboration by answering the following questions primarily:
1. Where is your industry located?
2. Are you in the manufacturing or service industry?
3. Is your focus just on the employees' children or the children in the community you operate in?
4. Your budget allocation will set the final parameter anyway!
The answers will help you clearly set perspectives of this program. If you link this activity to ERC (Employee Related Costs), you are talking about one budget that involves aspects like the organization's capacity to bear this additional burden, whether the employees will want to include this scheme in the collective bargaining sphere, and you will have to define the support you have in mind - all children, any school/college/institutes of higher learning, professional courses, and whether all employees' children (irrespective of their performance) will be the beneficiaries, etc.
Even if you are considering this a CSR project, these questions will have to be considered, perhaps more critically.
I am writing all this as the first assistance, but I do really think, like Mr. Simhan has said, you should provide more details of what is in your mind on this subject. Organization of your thoughts will only help put in place a better-structured proposal for the organization to consider! But his mail should at least set you thinking a little more in-depth.
Need more assistance/clarification, feel free to contact us!
Cheers!

Thanks, Simhan and Samvedan! Actually, we are in the service industry, a car dealership in Nasik, Maharashtra, with around 150 employees, out of which approximately 50 have been with us for more than 5 years. They are in the age group where their kids are going to start their schooling. We want to reimburse their school fees and take care of their complete education as long as they are with us. These employees earn from Rs. 5000 to Rs. 15000 per month.

Thanks for the response. Keeping aside the issue of funds allocation by the company for this purpose, one must remember that such a scheme has to be thought of and conceived for perpetual application, and there is nothing wrong with such an approach.
Subject to this observation, I would suggest that you put together your thoughts on the subject based on my earlier response and present it to us (if you like, as a Private Message), and we might be able to add value in terms of structure, substance, and parameters. I am making this offer, but you have to make a choice!

We are a manufacturing company. We have regular and contract staff in our company. We provide education fees for the academic year to all the contract employees based on their salary. For example, a contract employee earning below 10k salary will receive the full amount of fees for their children, and for those earning above 10k, we cover 50% of the children's fees depending on their school fees.
I hope this information is helpful to you.

You have to ensure equity in whatever policies you frame. For example, considering Murali's scheme, I would ask, is it equitable that a person who sends their children to a private school gets more money than one who can't send their children to a private school for some other reason? Similarly, if a worker limits their family size to two and another keeps having more children without believing in family planning, is it equitable to keep paying for all the children?
I understand that these policies are for retaining good and loyal workers.
Have a nice day.

Simhan, maybe a person who can't send his children to a private school for other reasons. The person might start sending his children to a private school to at least use this benefit. In that case, it is good for the person and children, and we had also restricted it to two children.

Thank you, friends. I am now on the right track, I guess, with this valuable guidance through discussion. I've got the idea to develop. I would be able to share it with you very soon. Looking forward to suggestions on the same thread.
Thanks once again.

Hi Friends, I wish to know, 1. Is the scholarship received by an employee’s child, is taxable for the employee? 2. If not, is there any upper limit for receiving such scholarship?
