Emergency Plan for Metallurgical Safety
I am working for a metallurgical company where iron ore smelting is done in a Mini Blast Furnace (MBF). As you all know, the blast furnace smelts iron ore at about 1400-1500 degrees Celsius and 3.5-4 Kgf/cm² pressure, making it vulnerable to explode or rupture. Therefore, my request to those seniors, especially working in metallurgical industries as safety officers, is to please suggest an emergency plan for handling and tackling the following situations:
1. Explosion or rupture of the blast furnace.
2. Hot metal spillage while shifting the ladle to the pig casting machine due to some reasons.
Please advise and suggest how to mitigate the effects of the emergency situations mentioned above. I hope all safety personnel will actively participate in making an emergency plan for the associated hazards of working areas.
