But I read somewhere that its nil till 2500 then 2501 - 3500 is 60 3501- 5000 is 120 5001 - 10000 is 175 10001 and above is 200 Please advise asap.

Maharashtra Professional Tax Act (Effective from 1.7.2009)
1. If the monthly gross salary does not exceed Rs. 5000/-, P Tax is Nil.
2. If the monthly gross salary exceeds Rs. 5001 but does not exceed Rs. 10000/-, P Tax is Rs. 175/- per month.
3. If the monthly gross salary exceeds Rs. 10000/-, P Tax is Rs. 200/- per month, and in February, it is Rs. 300/- per month.
The following persons are exempted from the provisions of the Profession Tax Act in Maharashtra:
a. Senior citizens above 65 years of age.
b. Handicapped persons with more than 40% disability or parents of a physically disabled or mentally retarded child.
