Thanks for your inputs. Nice analogy to bring out Building Teams and its relevance in the corporate world. Some important points which I thought would also pave the way for understanding success and, more importantly, learning from failures:
- **Leadership:** Cool and calculated decisions by Dhoni made the difference between winning and losing. Compare these with the blunder Sachin committed by exposing an inexperienced bowler in front of Gayle, without realizing Gayle's strength and form. Sachin is a great player, but at times such decision-making leads to the team's downfall.
- **Team vs. a Bunch of Great Individuals:** CSK & MI.
- **Understanding Opponents' Strengths & Weaknesses:** Decisions based on the analysis.
- **Adopting a Strategy Based on the Situation and Not on Emotions:** Sending Bhajji ahead of Pollard in the Semi-final match just because Bhajji hit a six in the previous match?
- **Each Position Has an Important Role to Play:** Stationing players at key fielding positions, assignment of roles & responsibilities.
- **Clarity of Expectations with the Players.**
- **Dhoni's Promotion of Himself to the Number 3 Slot in the Final Match:** Taking ownership and leading by example.
- **Self-belief and Ambition to WIN.**
- **Being What MANU is for the Football League:** Setting high goals and taking the team together to believe and act.
- **Dreaming & Doing to Achieve Things:** Both dreaming & doing go hand in hand if one needs to accomplish the targets.
- **AIM HIGH and Strive to Achieve the Goals Set with Perseverance.**
- **Success is a Journey:** Remember, setbacks & obstacles will be there on the journey. Learn to face them head-on.
