One of my employees is covered under ESI, and his wife is pregnant with their second baby. My question is, what benefits are available for a staff member's wife's maternity? What procedures should the employer follow to help the employee avail of ESI benefits?
I am eagerly awaiting your reply.

Dear Kumujegan,
The insured person's (I.P.) wife can avail medical benefits from ESI hospitals/dispensaries. The I.P. can also claim transport allowance if his residence is far away from the ESI Hospital at the time of delivery. To receive medical benefits, it is necessary that her name is included on the ESI card. Apart from medical facilities, she is not entitled to any cash benefits.

(Fact Checked)-The reply is partially correct. The employer providing 15 days of parental leave is accurate. However, the statement about the employee getting all medical facilities if the wife is enrolled in ESI card needs clarification. (1 Acknowledge point)
