Yes, unfortunately, it can happen, but it may bring disharmony, dissatisfaction among employees, and within the peer group. It is a sad thing that happens in many organizations, especially BPOs, where without any formal training or knowledge about HR, people are asked to take over HR's role. They have to deal with associates on a daily basis and provide solutions to their problems.

Sadly, HR is the most understated department or function, which everyone feels can be handled if you are people-oriented and want to work with people. You can be good, partly which may be right, but HR is much more than this. There are theories, systems, metrics, approaches that many HR professionals are not aware of, and as a result, HR fails in the company.

TERMS OF YOUR EMPLOYMENT

Your salary will commence at a total of N per annum, and the breakdown is as follows:
- Basic N

HOUSING OF WORK

Your working hours are 8:00 am-6:00 pm Monday-Friday and 9:30 am-2:00 pm Saturdays. You may also be required to do other assignments as the job demands and beyond the normal working hours.

PROBATION PERIOD

You will be placed on a six (6) months probation, after which your appointment may be confirmed or terminated. During the probation period, the contract of employment can be terminated by either party giving two weeks' notice in writing to the other or payment in lieu of notice. This is without prejudice to the right of the company to dismiss you without notice for gross misconduct. It is hereby mutually agreed that gross misconduct is what we, your employers, subjectively deem to be gross misconduct.

TERMINATION OF APPOINTMENT

This contract of employment, upon confirmation, may be terminated by one month's notice in respect of senior staff and two weeks' notice for junior staff, given in writing by either party or payment of 1 month or 2 weeks' basic salary, as the case may be, in lieu of notice.

The notice of resignation must be duly accepted by us in writing before you can be duly released from our organization's employment. The acceptance of the resignation will not be unduly withheld in the case of an employee who has rendered a full and true account of all company properties in his/her possession and handed the same over to the Human Resources Manager.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Your job description will be as communicated to you from time to time.

CONFIDENTIALITY

You will not, during or after your employment with the company, reveal or exploit any trade secret, intellectual properties, know-how, etc., which you became privy to in the course of your employment with our organization. It is mutually agreed that a breach of this clause is enforceable against you and every other party you colluded with.

CASUAL LEAVE

Any sick or casual leave shall be deductible from your annual leave.

ABSENCE FROM DUTY ON SICK OR INJURY

Absence from duty on account of ill health shall be duly notified to the company within 24 hours in cases of emergencies. Every application for sick leave must be made and approved by the company 24 hours before the same is embarked upon. In exceptional cases, a certificate from any government-owned Hospital will be accepted as evidence of the fact of sickness.

TRANSFER

The company reserves the right to transfer you at any time to any of its offices anywhere in the world.

Most of the members have posted their opinions, and in my view, I agree with Mr. Archna. However, I want to present a unique suggestion. As you said, a person with ZERO KNOWLEDGE. But have you ever tried to test his CONFIDENCE LEVEL, CAPABILITIES, AND ABILITIES to handle the HR DEPARTMENT?

KNOWLEDGE COMES WITH EXPERIENCE. IT IS GAINED AS TIME PASSES BY. Let me know more about the person whom you are referring to. Please study more about him and explore his talents, skills, etc.

Hope you will be able to answer your query if you follow my suggestion. BUT DON'T TAKE ANYTHING FOR GRANTED.

Good morning Archnahr,

Thank you for your comment. Regarding the casual leave, I really can't say much because it was added by the management. However, to my understanding, it is just to take around 10 days off at the end of the year since we do not go for holidays. The casual leave is meant to compensate the staff, considering we are a small company for now. Yes, all this information is included in the letter. I would appreciate it if you could help with identifying what is missing in the letter and provide advice on the casual leave too.
