Medical Check-Up for Pantry Workers
This pertains to your query regarding the medical check-up for pantry workers.
All cooks, stewards, or those involved are required to undergo weekly medical inspections. An authorized medical attendant can conduct these check-ups using a proforma that includes the employee's name, the condition of their hands (whether nails are cut or not), any fungal infections, any history of gastritis (e.g., loose motions), etc.
If the pantry worker is found free of these issues, the remarks of FFI (free from infection) are given. This information can be documented on a form listing the number of workers, the details mentioned above, and concluding with remarks indicating FFI or, if not fit, the reason, followed by the signature of the medical attendant.
Additionally, every quarter, a detailed medical check-up should be conducted for food handlers, including weight checks, general health assessments, and tests for Hb, TLC, and DLC to rule out any infections.
Generally, these medical examinations can be outsourced to an external healthcare organization, who perform them periodically.
