Hi,

My name is Hasit. I have 5 years of experience in manual testing and automation. When interviewers ask "Tell me about yourself," what should I explain?

Could you please send me the information?

Thanks,
Hasit

Dear seniors,

I am Nishpa Chaturvedi, working as an HR cum Admin executive with 5 years of experience in HR. My qualifications include a B.Com, M.Com, Diploma in HR, and I am currently pursuing an MBA in HR.

I am facing a significant issue. I am employed as an HR cum Admin executive in Mumbai. Prior to this role, I worked with another company. However, the main problem I am encountering is the lack of an offer letter and salary slip from my previous employment. This absence makes it challenging to secure a better job in a larger company as they typically require these documents as proof.

Please advise me on what steps to take, considering my financial situation is also very poor. I am eagerly awaiting your guidance.

Thank you.

Dear Nishpa,

You must have a professional conversation with your subordinates and management team. You have to first win their side so that you could be given offer letters, salary slips, and experience letters.

Hi,

You may start with your experience, followed by your current company responsibilities and your achievements and contributions. Then explain your projects and key skills. If given more time to explain, you can highlight your great strengths while avoiding discussing your weaknesses. Remember, making a good impression within the first 90 seconds of a personal interview is crucial. Try to impress the interviewer and engage with them more.

Totally agreed with Balaji. The intention behind this question is usually to get more information about the candidate that is not expressed in his/her resume. Avoid explaining the things that are already there in the resume. Do mention your positive strengths, achievements, projects, initiatives, and likings. At the same instance, avoid talking about your family if not asked by the interviewer. Keep direct eye contact, sit straight, keep smiling, and face the interview. Be confident enough at the interview. Best of Luck.

When in an interview, you are asked about "Tell me about yourself," don't start with your name. Instead, begin with your educational information. What is your highest degree? When did you complete it, and from which institute did you graduate? Then, move on to your professional experience. Elaborate on the experiences that align with what the interviewer is seeking. Also, mention important activities you have handled that you believe would add value to your resume.

Wishing this could be helpful! All the best for your future endeavors.
