Hello,

I have just completed my 1st year of MBA and have proceeded for summer training in a public sector oil company. My problem is that I have been suggested by my guide to do a project on "Employee Job Satisfaction," but I feel that this topic is too easy for our level. However, he says that it is important as not much research has been done by students on this topic and is worth undertaking. Should I agree with him or convince him for some other challenging topic? In case the topic I choose is easy, will it affect my future career prospects?

Hello,

Definitely, it's a very easy topic as you have mentioned. However, it is also correct that not much has been done on this topic. Don't worry, if you really want to add some content to it, you can include topics like Job Analysis because it is very much related to your project and in the future, it will provide you with some new insights.

Thanks & Regards,

I don't think job satisfaction is a very easy topic as job satisfaction is linked with many factors; it is a broad topic. It may seem easy because you may have access to lots of literature and old projects, but if the project is done genuinely, it is a great topic. Nowadays, many public sector companies are investing millions and engaging numerous consultants to determine the level of job satisfaction among employees.

Hi,

You can always use statistical analysis to correlate your findings and conclusions. Choose your questionnaires in an appropriate manner. Analyze how you can interpret the answers. When you interview the employees, observe and analyze the answers carefully.

Please email me if you have any other queries at .

All the best.

Hello Neena,

The project, contrary to what you presume, is a complicated one. It could be challenging to take up such an assignment. However, choose this task only if you are working in an organization with an adequate number of employees. You should have access to the employees for obtaining the required data.

Furthermore, be careful in deciding the referral factors to measure job satisfaction; your questionnaire should be designed with linkages to the chosen factors.

Best wishes,
