Hi Rose,

You can split the salary as follows:
Basic - 60% of Gross.
HRA - 25% of Basic.
Conveyance - Rs. 800
Refreshment - Rs. 1000
Telephone - Rs. 1000
Other allowances

Hope this will help you. Kindly cross-check with other salary break-ups.

Hi,

There is no standard rule for creating a breakup. A breakup should be prepared in a way that minimizes tax liability. To reduce tax liability, consider factors such as HRA, food vouchers, travel expenses, house furnishing allowance, medical reimbursement, children's education, newspapers, and periodicals. It is advisable to consult a tax consultant to structure the breakup effectively and minimize tax liability.

Dear Rose,

The salary structure varies from company to company. It depends on what components you include at what level, especially at the top management level. It is designed keeping in view the tax liability of the employee. Due to Fringe Benefit Tax, it is not possible to save taxes by giving additional benefits. You can consult a tax advisor for this.

A sample salary structure is mentioned below for your reference:-

Cost to the Company: 420,000 540,000
Basic: 255,825 333,747
HRA: 102,330 133,499
Transport Allowance / Conveyance Allowance: 17,908 23,362
Uniform/ Maintenance Allowance: 17,908 23,362
Attendant Allowance: 15,000 15,000
PF: 780 780
Medical Allowance: 1,250 1,250
Driver Allowance: 6,500 6,500
Books & Periodicals: 2,500 2,500

Regards,
Santosh.

Hi Santosh,

Thank you for the information provided above. I am a fresher and currently learning how to calculate a salary breakup. Could you please explain the calculations you have done in the above figures? Specifically, what percentage constitutes the basic salary of the gross salary, HRA, and other allowances in both the CTC figures? Your insights would be greatly appreciated.

With warm regards,
