I am really nervous these days. After completing my Master's degree, I am working a job that a high school graduate would typically do. So, what should a person do in this situation?
In the past year, I have changed jobs 5 to 6 times because I am not cut out for sales. I am unable to sell anything, except for myself.
So, what should a person do in this situation, as I do not want to compromise?

Hi, if you are really a talented person, then use your intelligence and show the management that you deserve better than whatever profile is offered to you. You can do this by taking initiatives in some projects, etc. This is what I think.

Thank you for your response, Jayshree.
I am not feeling enthusiastic about my work because the job doesn't align with my profile, and the pay is not sufficient for me to focus on my tasks. Additionally, my CV looks unfavorable as I have left several companies due to being in sales roles. I am currently not receiving any interview calls, which is quite distressing. People advise me to wait and be patient, suggesting that things will eventually change. However, I am unsure of how long I will have to wait.
Thank you

Instead of getting into a vicious circle, try to get out and change it to a virtuous circle. I do not think you have done a good job of selling yourself if you have changed jobs 6 times in a year. Why do you not take time to find the right job instead of taking up a job that comes along? Maybe you are accepting jobs for the sake of money.

Hey Rohit,
No worries. You are not alone in this struggle. We are all in the same ship, albeit with different sizes and types of ships.
First and foremost, never compare yourself with anyone. You will always be the loser. Take it from me. Remember, it was that less than 12th-grade student who created the empire we now call "Reliance Group of Companies," and it is the learned and educated MBA from the UK who is in a war to claim the empire, which was not created by them. Education is just a ladder, not the key to your success. Your hard work and perseverance to reach your destiny are the keys to success.
I know this is all philosophy, and you might term it diplomatic, but just wait and watch. When you seek help to reach your destiny, the whole world will come to help you. I have experienced it, and I am sure you are from the same soul, so you will too.
All the best and kudos, buddy.

Well, I highly admire the sort of inspirations seniors have given to you, Rohit.
I would also recommend you to concentrate solely on your goal, what you must achieve, and remain steadfast in that pursuit. Ignore any negative or critical situations you may be facing or unforeseen challenges you have to endure.
Life is never smooth forever; therefore, ups and downs are integral parts of life. Do not lose your courage, maintain belief in God, and persevere.
In the midst of your current struggles, remember that you will soon overcome them. Once you achieve your goals, you will feel positive vibes within yourself, realizing that your past hardships were for a reason – because God has something better in store for you!
So, my dear friend, do not lose hope!
As HR professionals, above all, we are human beings. It is our core responsibility, for the sake of humanity, to support each other as much as possible.
God is testing your patience. Keep faith in Him, and remember that PATIENCE is the key word!
Maintain your perseverance and diligence in alignment with your patience; you will undoubtedly reach your goals!
Wishing you lots of good luck in your future endeavors.
You will soon overcome your apprehensions!

I would suggest keeping looking for jobs you are good at and would like to do. Don't end up doing a job you are not interested in and not giving your best efforts because unless you are not doing a job you like, you won't be able to give your best there. Until then, stick to the job you are presently doing and try to bring in some innovation in the way you do it. Maybe that would help!

Hi Guys!!!
I am very much new to this site. I have just gone through the above solutions provided by all of you. Really, all are impressive, but guys, Rohit needs a job where he can put his ideas into practice, prove himself as a good employee, and all he needs is a good profile or senior's trust. Can anyone help in attracting our boss towards our work so that Rohit can perform well and showcase his talent?
Hope my ideas are worthwhile.

Hi Rohit,
I am a physically challenged person with a difficult childhood. I studied in a government school and learned English after the age of 12 because during my time, we used to memorize English. I know many of you may find it hard to believe, but this practice still exists in government schools. I started my career as a typist, then learned stenography. To acquire these skills, I sold cotton balls in various markets of Delhi, repaired and assembled watches, and worked in a dry cleaning shop. Today, I am a postgraduate working as an A.M. in L&D, and I still have a strong desire for learning.
Remember, the definition of a problem according to the Bhagavad Gita is that no one wants it, and no one can avoid it. We all have to face challenges and successes in life. Have faith and courage; this too shall pass. I have experienced a tough life, a very tough life, but I am tougher. As a source, I recommend a book titled "A Setback is a Setup to Comeback" by Willy Jolie. It provides many insightful ideas.
Although I am 41 years old, at heart, I feel barely 18. Despite facing numerous medical issues, I am still eager to perform like a tiger.
Everything will be alright. Focus your energy. One important lesson I have learned the hard way is to never compare oneself to others. Everyone has had different upbringings, education, and luck.
Cheers!

Hi Ashwini,
That's very true that Rohit actually needs a job where he can prove himself. For that, let me combine your and my answers:
STRENGTHS - Analyzing his strengthening personality traits and skills, he can better join the job that is actually suitable for him and is all about his area of interest. On the other hand, if he actually comes to know his strong points, he can merge those with his work to impress his boss.
WEAKNESS - Actually, this word should be better called "Area of improvement." Once a person is familiar with his points of weakness, he can work better on them to prove himself as a person in growth.
Anyways, Ashwini, on behalf of all members, I welcome you to Citehr. It's nice to discuss with a person who is genuinely concerned about making things better.
Let's grow and help others to grow.

Hi,
Please try to make a plan for your future. What will you become in the next 3 years, 5 years, 10 years... You will know what you want, what you need, and what to do to achieve the goals of your life.
Changing companies frequently is not a good solution. Just try to stay and study. An MBA is a good qualification for you, but experience is also important.

Hi Rohit,
Everything depends on you - the way you perceive the situations, the way you think and act, the way you lead your life. You can be successful if you want to be successful. Try to overcome your shortcomings. Failures always remind you to try again in a better way.
Along with education and experience, what matters more is our attitude. Rohit, don't take failures as negative; try to learn from them to understand where you are lacking. Even after making efforts, if you are not achieving success, it means there is something wrong in the way you approach things; try a different approach. Regardless of what others say, you are the only person who can help yourself in this situation.
Think positive, act positive, and be positive.
All the best and cheers,

I would like to thank all of you for giving your suggestions. One of my friends, Simhan, has written that I am taking jobs only for money. Sorry, sir, I can't explain all the situations I faced last year. Yes, I worked for money as I can't ask my family for the same. I have given time to search for a suitable job for me, but even after clearing the two or three rounds, the selection team said I have not cleared the test. I was sure I cleared the tests because a person who was there for the interview told me that your score was good because the paper was checked when he was giving the interview. It's only one example; I faced the situation many times.

Yes, I don't want to compare myself with others. Everybody has their own strengths and weaknesses. People are forcing me to change my attitude. It might be the reason I left so many companies because I can't lose my dignity. Seniors forced me to sell financial products by misleading people.

Even my schooling was from a Government School. I wrote all my exams in Hindi till my graduation. After passing graduation, I was not able to utter a single word. I don't know when I built a little vocabulary and speaking. After all this, it is happening to me.
And lastly, is it destiny, people, or my attitude that dooms my degrees and grades?

Hi Rohit,
I am sorry to hear about your situation. Let me provide some comments. First of all, you should have known the job description of the role you are going to undertake. Do not push yourself into a job solely for the sake of money or just for the job itself. The primary obligation of an individual is to seek a level of satisfaction in what they do. Firstly, decide on the specific role you want to work in and aim for that. Even if you are unable to secure a role immediately, ensure that you assess the processes and methods you are using in your job search.
Keep trying until you secure a position, but ensure that you are confident that your approach is appropriate.

Hello,
Could you please define the Class 12 job you are currently being asked to do? That should help in providing some information. Also, please provide the title of your job and the job responsibilities provided to you.
I am sure that a Class 12 job has less to do with sales - unless and until it has to do with door-to-door sales for soaps and talcum powder.
Thanks,

Hi Rohit,
Well, may be I might sound a little blunt and a little stern in my tone; however, for a fresher like you, I guess it is important to make you understand... What do you think you deserve? How can you just put a statement, "I am not happy because I am not getting the job that I deserve?"
First of all, prove the worth of what you deserve; only then can you claim asking for your worth. The first step to that is to be open and prepared to prove yourself in any opportunity given to you.
Today, we don't look at one specialized field but rather at multiskilled individuals, and I guess you should consider yourself lucky that six companies gave you the opportunity to prove your worth.
Get back to the work that's been offered rather than whining about being worth better or less.
Go get into the race and don't worry about losing or winning; just prepare yourself to run with all your strength, capabilities, and energy. I am sure spectators will notice, and you will be able to prove your worth and get what you deserve with the course of time.

This is a common query, and of the working population, 90% are doing jobs that do not utilize their full potential.
Also, please remember that all of us are where we are as a consequence of our past choices. Selections determine destinations, and choices circumscribe success.
Your ability to switch several jobs in the year is a reflection of your employability. Develop those skills in yourself that offer value to your employer. This may take a few months, and in the long run, is a choice that will benefit you enormously.
If you find any value in my suggestions, please feel free to take things forward.
All the best to you for your future.

Dear all,
I understood that Mr. Rohit had a problem with his profile and he may not be able to adjust his attitude. This is a common issue that occurs everywhere. As an HR person, he should be a role model at all times. We understand people's attitudes better than anyone else because we are specialists.
My suggestion is to please have confidence in yourself, continue applying with your resume, and reflect on any negative thoughts we may have. Let me share a simple idea with you: a person is born into society and plays many roles throughout their life until death. My dear friend, live each day as it comes to you. Remember, nothing is impossible in this world; everything will happen with patience.
Each day brings both joys and sorrows, so take life easy.

Hi Rohit,
I can understand your situation. I also agree with you that all the people around you, whom you can refer to as society, have a role in shaping your career path. However, it's important to recognize that your role is significant and cannot be ignored, while ours is minor and can be overlooked.
Let's not engage in the nonsensical discussion of who is responsible for what or where you fit in, etc. Instead, let's take practical steps that will ensure you are on the right track or help you find your path.
Could you please answer a few questions:
1) Do you have a genuine interest in pursuing sales as your future career?
2) If not, what are your other areas of interest?
3) What is your current take-home salary? (I apologize for asking this, but I need to understand what you stand to lose if you leave your current job)
Kindly respond with the answers to these questions. Let's work together to further shape your career. I reiterate, let us both strive to shape your career.
If you feel uncomfortable sharing your salary details on an open forum, you can email me privately at gopinath.r@aol.in.

Dear Hitro1;
Who will decide what you deserve? Look at your own life and analyze. When you were born, you had no degree, no income, no capability even to walk or talk, although you were blessed with good food, clothing, shelter, education, and a lot more. Isn't it? Have you ever felt gratitude for such luxuries given to you without any deserving quality and qualification?
Today, you are nervous because you are not getting the job and salary of your wish. Don't you think that there is something wrong in your thinking pattern? I wish you learn to express gratitude for every breath gifted to you.
Remember, no master's degree will help you live a happy life. It is you who will decide to live happily and will need to learn the art of being happy in every situation. I wish you learn to help yourself.
Read your words again and again and know your pessimistic approach to your life. Do not underestimate yourself and build a self-image like "I am not a salesperson so cannot sell anything except me." Remember, selling skill can be developed like other skills. You can do anything and everything, provided you change your mindset and approach to the situation. I wish you learn the way of life, which is full of struggle and simultaneously most beautiful too. Enjoy life. Here you have nothing to lose or gain, as you came bare-handed and will go bare-handed.
His Blessings;

Hey Rohit, come on! Nothing is there to be nervous about. You can prove your talents wherever you are! First, set your goal and work hard to achieve it. You should have faith in yourself. If you don't trust yourself, then who will trust you? Never lose your self-confidence at any cost.
Concentrate on your present job and think about how to succeed here and climb up in the hierarchy. Be bold enough! Everything will be alright soon! All the best! I wish you all success!

Dear Rohit,
I have gone through all comments until now and would like to say, please provide your full information. For example, you have a master's degree, but in which area you haven't specified, which cannot be expected from a Master's degree holder.
So, before presenting yourself in front of anyone, try to assess yourself first to ensure you are fully prepared and capable of proving yourself properly. Try to pursue a job that interests you. If you are not able to find a job, then stick with the job you currently have. Changing jobs frequently reflects irresponsibility towards your work.

Hi, I can associate with your situation as I was in the same situation 3 months ago. I'll tell you what I did rather than taking all that work (data entry for an engineer). I decided to quit, and believe me, I am quite happy now. (A few of my colleagues committed suicide recently).
So take my advice; if you have some money on hand to support you for 4-5 months, kick out your job and start looking for a job that matches your profile. Do what you love or start loving what you are doing; the choice is in your hands.

Pray About Everything and Worry About Nothing!!
We all must learn that worry, anxiety, and care literally have no positive effect on our lives. They never bring a solution to problems, and they prevent our growth in the Word of God.

Dear Hitro1,
Hey, always try to give 100% in whatever you do. Also, never forget that knowledge and experience never go to waste, so this will also help you in life in some way or another. It's a learning experience for you, so enjoy the journey. Take it positively and accept it as a phase of life. Please be selective from next time while accepting a job and avoid job hopping as much as possible. Prove yourself that you can be a good salesperson too, as we all have to sell ourselves in this industry. Don't get upset, be patient, think positive, trust yourself and God, and go ahead. Good luck. I hope your mindset will change after everyone's views.
Regards,
Sara

Hi, people want so many things in life but never seem to find them. It is your ability to give yourself a chance once in a lifetime. Eighty percent is self-effort; the rest is destiny, which you can never change.
People in commerce do scientific work. It is difficult for hobbies to convert into a profession. Education is not everything in life; what you learn is important. Find a mentor who will help you in professional development. I am fine, but in HR job, how do you like it?

Please try to following few tips to be satisfied on any job.
1. Job satisfaction is purely a psychological setup. To be happy/satisfied or not to be happy/dissatisfied is purely one's own thinking direction.
2. Always try to achieve five times more of what you can actually do normally or what others feel you can do.
3. Always feel you deserve 20% of what others feel about you. You will never be unhappy and ever prospering.
Treat all jobs equally. The same job shall be done by five people in five different ways. The ways of doing a job depend on the qualification, experience, aptitude, and interest.
For example, when an automobile engine has gone out of order, the mechanic will try to put it back into operation in his way. Whereas, an automobile engineer will try to put back the same engine in a very systematic way. Please note they are doing the job of "putting the out-of-order engine back into operation". Similarly, show interest in areas within the same job where you can attract the attention of your boss and where you can prove your mettle.
