Hi Kavita,

Even I am looking for the same course. But let me tell you one thing, once I have been for a VIP interview, and they were ready to provide training for the same. At that time, I was only a BCom graduate and was working in one of the consultancies as a Recruiter. So, I think for doing SAP, any graduate is fine. But if you have done Oracle, it will be really preferable. Your MS Office, mostly Excel, should be strong enough. So, even if you get any other information, please let me know.

It is not necessary for you to be an engineer to take an application-oriented course. You do not have to know how to program or configure anything.

It's so interesting to chat about this topic. One of my friends also said that SAP is already accumulating 50% of the market and still moving ahead. The only issue is the course fee, it's tremendously high if you opt for a good institution!

Hi Senthil,

The course fees are undoubtedly high, and there are very few places where you can get the training. However, if you are working with a good organization, the company can sponsor the candidates. My organization has also sponsored me for the SAP course, and they are sending me to Germany for the final module.

So, try to convince your company to sponsor you. 😉

Firstly, I would like to say one thing—today, the market is open as per the NASSCOM report. In 2008, IT/ITES required 2 to 3 lakh people. Qualifications, certifications, experience, etc., are not needed. If you have good technical skills, that is more than enough.

We know that JDD Edwards, Peoplesoft, and Siebel are now under Oracle. Therefore, Oracle HRMS is also booming, primarily because Peoplesoft HRMS is a very good product compared to others. In the UK, US, and Europe markets, both SAP and Oracle are good options, but in the Middle East and Asia, only Oracle is present. If Africa develops, Dubai is the only and easy hub for companies to capture the African market.

So, think and act. This is the right time for a verdict.

I want to share my knowledge about details of SAP.

The full form of SAP is SYSTEM APPLICATION AND PRODUCTS IN DATA PROCESSING, and it is a German product.

SAP consultants have 3 streams of career options:

1) Implementation

2) Maintenance

3) Upgrade (Versions)

In the Implementation career option, there are 3 types of Consultants:

1) Basis

2) Technical

3) Functional

To become an SAP Technical Consultant, we must have programming knowledge of ABAP and SAP R/3.

SAP Functional Consultants work with various modules such as:

- SAP (HR)
- SAP (SD)
- SAP (FI/CO)
- SAP (MM)

As HR professionals, we can opt for SAP (HR). For this, there is no need to have programming language skills because all functional modules have user-friendly interfaces for transactions.

To my knowledge, Siemens Certification of SAP training courses is considered the best, but it can be costly as some members have mentioned. They have eligibility criteria for undertaking SAP training.

Apart from Siemens, nowadays, many training institutes provide courses, but they only cover around 30% of SAP knowledge. Therefore, be cautious in selecting the right training institute.

If organizations provide training to their employees, then it's beneficial.

It is certain that SAP is in high demand.
