Seeking Advice on Short HR Courses to Boost My Career After MBA and 2 Years Experience

Miss. Kunal
Hi all!

I'm working as an HR Executive in an IT company in Pune. I completed my BCS (Bachelor of Computer Science) in 2004 and pursued an MBA in HR in 2006. I have accumulated 2 years of experience in HR, focusing on recruitment and core HR functions.

I aspire to advance my career in core HR within a reputable corporate setting. To achieve this goal and enhance my skills, I am interested in pursuing further education through distance learning or e-learning.

I have conducted extensive research on courses offered by Symbiosis and XLRI. While Symbiosis provides a 2-year PGDHRM program and an 18-month corporate program, I am not inclined towards either of these options.

Additionally, I explored the possibility of undertaking SAP HR training. However, due to its high cost, especially for the Siemens certification which seems essential, I find it unaffordable at the moment.

I kindly seek your assistance in identifying reputable courses, preferably of a maximum duration of 1 year, that can significantly enrich my career profile and knowledge. Your prompt response is greatly appreciated as admissions deadlines are approaching swiftly, and I aim to avoid any delays until next year.

Thanks and regards,
Miss Kunal

Dear Kunal,

After having a Masters in HR (MBA HR), it doesn't make sense to go for any PGDHRM as you are already a master in it.

Other Courses:

- MPP Master of Public Policy
- MPA Master of Public Administration
- MSW Master of Social Works
- Or a Ph.D

Hi,

In my view, I don't think any small courses after an MBA will make a significant difference. Only pursuing a Ph.D. or learning new technologies like SAP (from Siemens, of course) will add substantial value. After an MBA, what truly matters is more experience and knowledge unless a course can genuinely help you introspect and bring out latent talents.

These thoughts are entirely my own.
