Tamil Nadu HR Professionals: How Do We Overcome Challenges and Share Success Stories?

THIAGARAJU
Hi Tamil HR professionals,

We do a lot of HR initiatives and adopt lots of HR interventions, and we are successful in many ways despite prevalent odds such as language barriers, political interventions, etc. My humble suggestion is that we shall use this site to share our successes and failures to gain experience. Let's start now.

Hello, so who is going to really start?

Anyways, shall I trigger an "In topic" which is also a very significant one?

1. What exactly is Organizational culture, and how do new entry employees adapt to the same?

Here, the growing concern is the breakdown of small family units due to culture shock and also a lack of awareness/adaptability to the so-called fast-paced Western culture.

My Track:

Being a soft skills trainer, I take up a few minutes to explain how we train people for Voice and Accent Training. I then go on to explain that we are learning English pronunciation to improve our earning skills and not to distance ourselves from our parents, relatives, or friends. Or worse, give up our language. See, any Indian language is constructed very scientifically. "zha" is unique to Tamil and Malayalam, and this actually strengthens one's nerves. That is why emotional stability and tolerance have been higher in most Indians. Suddenly, the trainees see sense and have a more matured outlook towards becoming modernized or so-called fashionable. The Westerners have given up that kind of challenging life. So, it is better we set some values right before we start regretting.

I personally thank CiteHR for providing such a platform for us to converse without any inhibitions and with real concern. And I thank you all for seriously considering putting this platform to good use!

Have a nice evening.

Regards,

Sujatha

Dear Sujatha Suresh,

Good question. Let me provide an answer to your first question.

Corporate culture can be viewed as a system. Inputs include feedback from society, professions, laws, stories, heroes, values on competition or service, etc. The process is based on our assumptions, values, and norms, e.g., our values on money, time, facilities, space, and people. Outputs or effects of our culture include organizational behaviors, technologies, strategies, image, products, services, appearance, etc.

The concept of culture is particularly important when attempting to manage organization-wide change. Practitioners are realizing that, despite the best-laid plans, organizational change must involve not only changing structures and processes but also changing the corporate culture.

There has been a significant amount of literature generated over the past decade about the concept of organizational culture, particularly concerning learning how to change it. Organizational change efforts are rumored to fail the vast majority of the time. This failure is usually attributed to a lack of understanding about the strong role of culture in organizations. That is one of the reasons why many strategic planners now place as much emphasis on identifying strategic values as they do on mission and vision.

Hi to all,

I am also very keen to join with you. Someone talked about the organization's culture. When a new person enters the company, the company will take the first initiative to introduce the culture to the individual. A company that fails to establish the culture for its new employees will surely encounter issues, not only for the company but also for the individual. Some employees smartly adapt themselves to the culture, and then there are no problems for the company or the individual.

I am from the Garment Industry in Tirupur. I'm very glad to join this group and engage in further discussions. We have structured training programs from induction to orientation, which ensures that one automatically assimilates with our organizational culture. Of course, individuals from outside the garment industry or from outside Tirupur may find it challenging to adapt to our wavelengths. Nevertheless, we persist in carrying out our HR functions to fulfill the industry's requirements.

Hi HR friends,

Will it be possible for the members in Coimbatore, Erode, Tirupur, Salem, Karur, and other such places to meet at Coimbatore or Erode on one Sunday? The purpose of this meeting is to introduce ourselves and to form a stronger professional network. Members of CITEHR in these areas, may please let me know their opinion. If you can assure your presence, I can organize things for the meet.

Looking forward to meeting you all.

Hi friends, I also like to join this group. I have some knowledge about organizational culture, and I would like to gather more details about many topics in HR because I am passionate about HR.

Hi all,

Now that so many are eager to join the group, shall we start forming in such a way that we can have a get-together like CiteHR Bangalore friends are doing? If so, please suggest dates and topics and give your names for volunteering and areas where you would like to volunteer. We can continue on this page itself or, better still, start a new thread. CiteHR, the Chennai Chapter... how is that for a start?

Have a nice week and add value to this post.

Regards,
Sujatha

You can always reach me at sujathasureshkumar@gmail.com.

Hi, I'm Pradeepa. I work for an MNC in the HR Department, and I have an MBA. I would like to join you in this fleet. Keep posting.

Moreover, my dream is to have an HR meet at Coimbatore shortly. Let's all decide the date, time, and venue for this meet for our members. Join, discuss, and share knowledge. It requires initiatives from team members of CITEHR.

Bye,

Hi Sujatha,

This is Narendra here. It's a really good idea to have a get-together. Let's make it happen. You can always get in touch with me if you need help for the meeting. Also, if we have a new thread for the Chennai chapter, it would be good for us to discuss the current trends and activities.

Cheers,
Narendra
