Service bonds are no longer valid. Your employer cannot keep original certificates in his custody. You can initiate legal action against your employer to release your original certificate. I would suggest writing a request letter to your employer asking for the custody of your original certificates. If your employer fails to do so, please lodge a police complaint at the nearest Police Station.

That is the wrong practice. An employer can't keep the original certificates. For bond security, the employer will execute the bond through the court.

It is totally illegal and comes under the purview of unfair labor practices. You can sue them for this and file a complaint with labor authorities.

Hope few companies, especially those with a judicial note/certificates, hold your certificates. A better way is to negotiate with the employer to get back your certificate or to file an FIR stating the loss of the certificate and apply for another at your own cost.

I would like to remind you that at the time of joining in a hurry, people often make this mistake. If I am not mistaken, you might not have asked for an acknowledgment for your certificates from your employer/HR of the company. If this is correct, how can you prove that your certificates are with them? Both you and your employer have been comfortable all this time, and you have not realized it. Now, as you have quit the job, the issue of legality has come into the picture. If you have acknowledgment, then you can proceed legally; otherwise, somehow you have to manage and retrieve those certificates.
