Struggling Without an HR Degree: Should I Pursue Certifications Like GPHR or HR House?

amritagupta33
Hi,

I am working as an HR Executive with one of the IT companies in Noida. I have more than 3 years of experience in the same domain. However, I don't have a professional degree in HR. This becomes a problem for me during interviews. I am currently pursuing an M.B.A. in HR from Symbiosis, Pune. I have heard about HR House, which provides online support and certifications for HR Generalist domains. Could you please suggest if I should pursue it? What are your thoughts on the GPHR (The Global Professional in Human Resources) certification?

Looking forward to your reply.

Warm Regards,
Amrita

Hi, I am Udaya. I am pursuing my MSW in Coimbatore. I would like to transition my career into Human Resources. Currently, I am specializing in HR. Therefore, I am aiming to become an HR professional. What steps should I take next? Should I pursue an MBA or opt for training courses such as PeopleSoft HRMS, SAP HR, or GPHR certification (The Global Professional in Human Resources)? I am feeling uncertain about the best path forward as my ultimate goal is a career in HR. Your guidance on advancing my career in this field would be greatly appreciated.

Awaiting your reply.

Hi there,

If you are really facing some problems for an HR-Gen profile, I would suggest you go for an interview in an upcoming small firm in your town. It's a small firm that has just started their business, but please look out for the company's reputation and stability.

You can also opt for various certification courses available in the market. Get the certification done and believe in yourself; one day, you will definitely get into an HR-Gen profile. After all, experience and practical skills count, not just theory.

Yes, you may need to struggle at an HR-Executive designation for a longer period, dedicating yourself to working for at least another 2 years in a newly established, growing firm. Your performance will be appreciated in most upcoming and growing companies. Eventually, you may transition into some big giant companies where they may demand MBAs and more. It's a fact you should know that some people working in few giant companies, even their owners, are not graduates; it's all about the market demand.

So, stay calm and just go for the interview. One day, you will be successful.
