April 14th National Holiday: Should Companies Update Their 2008 Holiday Lists Now?

suja_nm
Friends,

The Central Government has declared April 14th, Dr. Ambedkar's birth anniversary as a National Holiday (ref: TOI dated April 9th, 2008). As companies have already declared their Holiday Lists for 2008, would this be effective from 2008 or 2009?

Hello,

No need to change the holiday list; you can keep it as an optional holiday. Any person who takes leave on April 14 will have to forgo one of the leaves mentioned in the holiday list.

Thank you,
Octavious

Oops... I sent a circular just now reminding staff to be in the office at 9:30 AM sharp on 14th April. Hmm, let me see what I can do. Bye and have fun! 😄

It depends on the company's policies whether they want to treat it as a holiday or a working day.
