Can someone inform me how many mandatory leaves are to be given to employees working under the Karnataka Shops & Establishment Act? Kindly inform about PL, CL, and Medical Leaves.

Form "U" is the combined Annual Return under S&E Act. The same shall serve the purpose of the Contract Labour Act, Payment of Wages Act, Minimum Wages Act, and Maternity Benefit Act.

Your question regarding leave can be answered as follows: Leave with wages in the S&CE Act is when an employee is eligible for 1 day of leave with wages after every 20 working days in the case of adults, and 1 day every 15 days in the case of a young person. For more information, please refer to the S&CE Act-Chapter IV.

As per the act, an employee will be eligible for the following leaves:

- **Earned/Paid Leave:** 1 day leave for every 20 working days, credited to the leave account in the next calendar year. The leave calculation period will be the calendar year.

- **Casual Leave:** 12 days leave per annum.

Both types of leave are calculated on a pro-rata basis.
