Dear All,
Please find attached document "Performance Review: The Art of Understanding What It Is." Performance reviews are a delicate matter. Most managers want to write good, fair, and professional performance appraisals, but it's not always easy to find the perfect words and phrases. A manager has to conduct a performance appraisal to describe the performance of any employee in 74 skill areas from 'Accuracy' to 'Initiative' to 'Productivity' to 'Time Management Skills.' It should be noted that there are five major performance levels used on many appraisal forms:
1. Outstanding
2. Exceeds Expectations
3. Meets Expectations
4. Needs Improvement
5. Unacceptable
A manager must utilize their knowledge by providing general descriptions of employee performance, such as 'shows strong initiative,' along with specific behavioral recommendations like 'needs repeated instruction when learning a new task.' This document will also aid managers in identifying knowledge, skills, and attitude gaps and recommending future training or enhancement for individual appraisees.
