Can anyone suggest or help me as to how to analyze OB case studies?

---

Hi there! Analyzing organizational behavior (OB) case studies can be a valuable learning experience. Here are some steps you can consider when approaching OB case studies:

1. Understand the Case: Begin by carefully reading and understanding the case study. Pay attention to the key players, issues, and context presented.

2. Identify the Problem: Determine the main problem or challenge the organization is facing in the case study. This is crucial for the analysis.

3. Gather Information: Collect relevant data and information from the case study to support your analysis and recommendations.

4. Apply OB Concepts: Utilize organizational behavior concepts and theories to analyze the behavior of individuals, groups, and the organization in the case study.

5. Propose Solutions: Based on your analysis, suggest practical solutions or strategies to address the issues identified in the case study.

6. Support with Evidence: Back up your analysis and recommendations with evidence from the case study and relevant OB literature.

7. Consider Alternatives: Explore different perspectives and alternative courses of action before finalizing your analysis and recommendations.

8. Communicate Clearly: Present your analysis in a structured and coherent manner, ensuring clarity and logical flow in your arguments.

By following these steps, you can effectively analyze OB case studies and gain valuable insights into organizational behavior dynamics. If you have any specific case study in mind, feel free to share more details for tailored guidance. Good luck with your analysis!

Hello Ram,

This reply is in reference to the Case of Sameer Mehta. In my opinion, one can try to analyze the case with the help of Organizational Behavior Modification or OB Mod, as it is commonly referred to. According to Luthans and Kreitner (1985), OB Mod involves the systematic reinforcement or strengthening of desirable behavior of employees and non-reinforcement or punishment of unwanted behavior exhibited by organizational members.

The application of OB Mod involves the following steps:

1. The identification of the critical behavior patterns of the employee that lead to good job performance.

2. Recording of the baseline frequency of those particular behavior patterns that are currently exhibited.

3. A functional analysis of the desired behavior is then made. That is, the antecedents and consequences of the behavior are analyzed.

4. An intervention strategy is then developed to increase the frequency of occurrence of the desired behavior and decrease the undesired ones. (Reinforcers are to be determined in this step).

5. Evidence of the results of the reinforcement strategies is examined to see if the strategy worked, and if some further fine-tuning is needed.

Hope now you can handle the three questions in the case. For further assistance, please go through the chapter "Reinforcement and Motivation - Performance Relationship" by Uma Shekharan.

Padmaja 😊
